Gül Memis transforms raw emotions into powerful, abstract compositions. Her work exists in the in-between: a dialogue between Orient and Occident, shaped by Turkish roots and contemporary Berlin culture. Through acrylic paints and intuitive gestures, she creates multi-layered narratives. Each canvas becomes a resonant space for what evades words: intimacy, loss, longing, and the pure, decisive gesture.

Creating art is, for me, a quiet dialogue between intuition and surface. It often begins tentatively, almost incidentally, and then suddenly a rhythm emerges that carries me. The canvas becomes a space of resonance, where impulses, undertones, and tensions become visible. Sometimes a single gestural stroke is enough to trigger something that was previously just a fleeting sense. This process - raw, condensed, unplanned - is my most familiar medium for approaching the world.
