The Gloss Echo Layer series emerged from the tension between control and chance. Powerful, intuitive brushstrokes meet transparent layers of Heavy Gloss Gel, which reflect the underlying color and make it visible like an echo. This lingering effect gives the works a constant vitality that continually unfolds anew in the light.
The artist refers to the characteristic blobs that gave this technique its name as Gloss Echo Layer. They are the memories that protrude from the painting and impact the space, like fragments that remain even when much has faded. Quartz sand is also used in some works, inscribing the transience of time into the image and enriching the surface with an earthy depth.
The surfaces are solid, raw, and restless, characterized by a haptic energy that preserves the trace of the moment. Every application of paint, every concentration, every highlight speaks of movement and intensity and invites the viewer to experience the painting not only visually but almost physically.
The light becomes a secret co-painter. With every change of the day, with sun, shadows, and reflections, the work reveals itself anew. No two moments are alike, like life itself, which is in constant flux.
Gloss Echo Layer is not a still painting. The works challenge the gaze, oscillating between matte surfaces and gleaming reflections, between calm and eruptive gestures. This creates an open dialogue with light, space, and viewer, which is reshaped with each viewing.
